Program Health Check for Global Biopharma Leader: Case Study

Background:

Following a successful audit of the Global Biopharma Leader’s Master Data Management (MDM) system, Osprey Life Sciences was re-engaged to conduct a broader Program Health Check. The focus was to evaluate the effectiveness of project governance, change management, resourcing, roles and responsibilities, and team dynamics within the organization’s Data, Digital, and Technology (DD&T) group.

Challenge:

Senior leadership at the Global Biopharma Leader sought to better understand organizational bottlenecks – both in terms of people and processes – that could be hindering operational efficiency. The objective was to gain a clear, unbiased view of internal dynamics in order to improve execution across projects and business operations.

Solution:

Osprey Life Sciences joined a select team of external experts tasked with assessing the organization’s operational and strategic approaches. The engagement included:

  • Evaluating current project structures, standards, and governance models
  • Soliciting candid feedback from stakeholders across the organization
  • Conducting a real-world analysis of team dynamics and cross-functional collaboration (“Team Synergies”)
  • Delivering actionable recommendations to streamline project execution and resourcing

Osprey’s role centered on collecting objective data and applying critical analysis to improve inter-team collaboration – all while minimizing disruption to daily operations.

Results:

Osprey delivered a key contribution to the final set of recommendations presented to executive sponsors:

  • Identified opportunities to improve collaboration and eliminate inefficiencies
  • Helped shape a strategic framework for better resource allocation and project execution
  • Supported a broader culture of cross-functional transparency within DD&T

The deliverables were well received by both the PMO and senior leadership.

Key Challenge:

Osprey’s primary challenge was to observe and assess interdepartmental collaboration without influencing team behavior – a delicate balance requiring neutrality and discretion. As the only non-employee participant in the assessment, Osprey’s objectivity and trustworthiness were critical to the success of the engagement.

Client Feedback:

“We presented the recommendations/deliverables Friday to the Sponsors, which was well received. Truly appreciate all your efforts the past month and enjoyed our partnership.”
